The kindergarten graduation has come and gone, the balloons have deflated, and you are faced with a question that has so much to do with it: what next? This decision is alarming, because it affects not only the next year, but also how the child will perceive learning throughout his life.
The world of modern education offers several routes. One of these is the zero grade at the private lyceum “My Horizons” in Khmelnytskyi.
What is the “zero grade”?

This is a specially designed educational year, the purpose of which is to ensure the smoothest and most effective transition from kindergarten to school. We have borrowed the best ideas from successful educational systems around the world, where a preparatory year is the norm, for example, in Sweden or Poland, and adapted them to the Ukrainian realities and needs of our children.
The main difference between the zero grade and kindergarten is its purposefulness. We develop in the child the skills necessary for successful learning: the ability to concentrate, listen to the teacher, work in a group, see things through to the end and, most importantly, enjoy the learning process. At the same time, we avoid the rigid framework and stress of the first grade.
The “My Horizons” approach

We are convinced that learning at the age of 5-6 should be an exciting adventure, not a boring duty. Therefore, we have combined the best educational tools with an atmosphere of care, love and respect for each child.
The basis of our academic program is the unique scientific and pedagogical project “Intellect of Ukraine”. This is a program designed so that the child does not just memorize information, but learns to think, analyze and create.
What makes “Intellect of Ukraine” so special:
- Learning through play and discovery: In lessons, children watch educational cartoons, sing songs, complete tasks in bright printed notebooks, and play educational games. Lesson duration is 30 minutes.
- Cross-curricular connections: The program is structured so that topics from different subjects are intertwined.
- Thinking development: The main emphasis is on the development of logic, critical thinking, memory, and imagination.
Yes, the “Intellect of Ukraine” program is truly deep and rich. And that is why we combined it with the zero-grade format. A supportive atmosphere, a playful form of presentation, and the help of a responsive teacher and group allow you to master this interesting material.
Comprehensive adaptation of the child

We pay special attention to creating a favorable environment:
- Daily routine: Full day, corresponding to the school day, but with 30-minute lessons, daytime rest (sleep at will) and 5 meals.
- Small groups: Class sizes of up to 12–14 children guarantee maximum attention to each child.
- Talent development: The second half of the day is devoted to creative studios, sports sections, English language learning and logic classes, which promotes comprehensive development.
